The First To Do It Premiere

At All Star Weekend in New Orleans in 2017, the NBPA Foundation hosted the world premiere of “The First To Do It,” a film about the life of Earl Lloyd, who was the first African-American to play in the NBA. In keeping with Mr. Lloyd’s wishes to share the story of his life and times with a new generation, the Foundation invited more than 150 local high school students to view the film and take part in the premiere festivities.

Of every NBA player I’ve ever met, people say “What interview stuck with you the most?” It’s not Michael Jordan or Magic or Lebron or Steph Curry. It’s Earl Lloyd.

And that’s the truth.
